Job Description

The Safety Ambassador Lead provides hands-on field leadership for autonomous delivery operations in Buda, Texas, ensuring operational excellence, strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and readiness to respond to incidents. This role serves as the primary escalation point and on-site coach for Safety Ambassadors, coordinating daily deployment plans, overseeing fleet and equipment readiness, and driving continuous process improvements in collaboration with operations and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support Safety Ambassadors in day-to-day field operations, acting as a player-coach who both supervises and actively participates in activities.
• Ensure consistent compliance with operational procedures and safety standards across all autonomous delivery routes and shifts.
• Coordinate daily deployment plans, including staffing coverage, route assignments, and timing to meet operational requirements.
• Verify fleet, vehicle, and equipment readiness before deployment, ensuring all systems are safe, functional, and aligned with operating procedures.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for field incidents, operational disruptions, and safety concerns, facilitating timely and effective resolution.
• Conduct safety observations in the field, reinforce best practices, and provide real-time coaching to promote a strong safety culture.
• Support onboarding, training, and certification activities for new and existing Safety Ambassadors, ensuring they meet program standards.
• Track operational performance metrics, prepare reports, and use data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Drive process improvements by partnering closely with operations and technical teams to refine workflows and enhance field effectiveness.
• Communicate field updates, risks, resource needs, and performance insights to management in a clear and timely manner.
• Participate in and support rigorous multi-stage evaluation processes for Safety Ambassador candidates, including physical readiness, situational judgment, technical orientation, and communication assessments.
• Model professional communication and public interaction, including responding to public inquiries, supporting de-escalation, and appropriately handling media interactions when required.

Essential Skills

• Experience in field operations, logistics, transportation, robotics, or safety-related environments.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in a player-coach capacity.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to coach, give feedback, and manage conflict effectively.
• Comfort using mobile devices and basic controllers, including operating handheld technology and following data logging procedures.
• Ability to perform 7 or more hours of active outdoor field escort duties across varied terrain.
• Capability to exercise sound situational judgment in incident response, aligned to different levels of standard operating procedures.
• Experience supporting safety-sensitive operations, such as military, consumer electronics, or technician environments.
• Background suitable for comprehensive verification, including Background checks, driving record review where applicable, and reference verification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in military environments, including service in branches such as Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard.
• Technical experience as a technician, electrical technician, mechanical technician, robotics technician, or avionics technician.
• Familiarity with autonomous or robotic systems and safety practices around advanced technology.
• Project management and supervision experience within operations, logistics, transportation, or field services.
• Strong public interaction skills, including comfort with role-play scenarios that simulate public inquiries, de-escalation, and media interactions.
• Ability to interpret performance metrics and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Interest in short- to medium-term project work with potential for extension.

Work Environment

This role is based at a worksite in Buda, Texas, near Campo Del Sol Parkway, supporting autonomous delivery operations in an outdoor field environment. Safety Ambassador Leads work 10-hour shifts with an additional 1-hour lunch, with front-end leads typically scheduled Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and back-end leads typically scheduled Friday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The work involves extended periods of active outdoor escort duties across varied terrain, requiring physical stamina and comfort in changing weather conditions. You will regularly interact with vehicles, robotic equipment, mobile devices, and data logging tools while collaborating closely with operations and technical teams. The project is expected to run for approximately 3 to 4 months, with completion bonuses, overtime availability, and the possibility of extension into 2027. The environment emphasizes safety, professionalism, and teamwork, with a focus on clear communication, adherence to procedures, and continuous improvement.

This is a Contract position based out of Buda, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
