Job Title: Safety Ambassador Lead

Job Description

The Safety Ambassador Lead provides hands-on field leadership for autonomous delivery operations in Buda, Texas, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, incident readiness, and consistent execution of safety standards. This role serves as the primary escalation point in the field and acts as a player-coach, guiding Safety Ambassadors through daily operations while actively participating in mission-critical activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support Safety Ambassadors in daily field operations, serving as a player-coach who both supervises and participates in activities.
  • Ensure strict compliance with operational procedures and safety protocols for autonomous delivery operations.
  • Coordinate daily deployment plans, including staffing coverage, route execution, and resource allocation.
  • Verify fleet, vehicle, and equipment readiness before deployment, ensuring all assets are safe and operational.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for incidents, operational disruptions, and safety concerns in the field.
  • Conduct safety observations, reinforce best practices, and provide real-time coaching to maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Support onboarding, training, and certification activities for new and existing Safety Ambassadors.
  • Track operational performance metrics and prepare reports that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive process improvements by partnering with operations and technical teams to refine workflows and enhance efficiency.
  • Communicate field updates, risks, and resource needs clearly and promptly to management and cross-functional partners.
  • Participate in physical readiness activities, including extended outdoor field escort duties across varied terrain.
  • Engage with the public professionally, responding to inquiries, supporting de-escalation scenarios, and managing media interactions when needed.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in field operations, logistics, transportation, robotics, or safety-related environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in operational or safety-sensitive settings.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to coach, influence, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Comfort with mobile devices, basic controller operation, and data logging procedures.
  • Ability to maintain at least 7 hours of active outdoor field escort duties across varied terrain during each shift.
  • Sound situational judgment and incident response decision-making aligned to structured standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to interact professionally with the public, including handling inquiries, de-escalation scenarios, and media interactions.
  • Willingness to undergo reference verification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting safety-sensitive operations, including environments such as military, consumer electronics, or technical field work.
  • Experience in technician roles such as Electrical Technician, Mechanical Technician, Robotics Technician, or Avionics Technician.
  • Experience in project management, operations management, or supervision within logistics or transportation settings.
  • Military experience from branches such as Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard is highly relevant to the role.
  • Familiarity with autonomous systems or robotics platforms used in delivery or transportation operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple routes, teams, and priorities within extended shifts.
  • Comfort working on short- to medium-term projects, with the potential for extension based on performance and business needs.

Work Environment

This role is based in the field at a worksite near Campo Del Sol Parkway in Buda, Texas, supporting autonomous delivery operations in outdoor environments. The Safety Ambassador Lead works primarily on 10-hour shifts plus a 1-hour lunch, with front-end leads scheduled Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and back-end leads scheduled Friday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The work involves extended periods of active outdoor escort duties across varied terrain, frequent interaction with vehicles, equipment, and robotics technologies, and regular use of mobile devices, controllers, and data logging tools. The environment is safety-focused and operationally intensive, with overtime availability, completion bonuses, and the opportunity to contribute to a 3-4 month project that may be extended into 2027. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
