About the Role
Regional Transit Service (RTS) is seeking a qualified individual who enjoys driving and working with the public to join our team as a Bus Operator in Monroe County. RTS Bus Operators operate 40-foot public transit vehicles to transport passengers along specific routes in Monroe County in accordance with published timetables.
Training Start Date: October 26th for non-fully licensed candidates; November 9th for fully licensed candidates.
RTS Bus Operators are NOT required to fuel or wash the buses!

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, climbing (stairs), twisting (arm/back), and/or rotating (arm). May also involve lifting (up to 10 pounds), carrying (up to 10 pounds), pushing and/or pulling (up to 150 pounds) materials and/or equipment. The job involves sitting for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day.
Ninety-five percent of the time is spent inside, and 5% of the time is spent outside, exposing employees to natural environmental conditions. Employees are exposed to fumes, noise (bus), vibration (seat), hazards, and motorized vehicles.

Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) maintains a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy in accordance with state and federal law. For safety-sensitive positions, applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and receive a verified negative test result before performing safety-sensitive functions. Employees in these positions are also subject to additional drug and alcohol testing throughout their employment in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulatory requirements.
As required by law, RTS tests for various substances, including cocaine, amphetamines, opioids, PCP, and marijuana metabolites. Please be advised that marijuana can remain detectable in the system for an extended period, sometimes more than 30 days, and may result in a positive drug test long after use.
