Job Description Summary:
GRF, Focus Partners Business Management, is seeking a Royalty Analyst to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Royalty Analyst is responsible for assisting the department in conducting compliance examinations on behalf of our entertainment clients and other rights holders. The Royalty Analyst will be working heavily with large data sets and will need to have strong proficiency within Excel.Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities
Assist managers with music royalty audits of record companies, music publishers, and merchandising companies, on behalf of clients that include Multi-Platinum and Grammy-winning artists, writers, and producers
Assist with merchandise licensing audits on Consumer Products Companies, including Fortune 500 Companies, on behalf of intellectual property rights holders
Assist with planning audit steps for anticipated audit engagements
Download and summarize royalty statements
Draft summarizations of contracts and modifications
Liaise with representatives regarding document requests and review
Organize and manipulate large datasets within Excel
Analyze data to find underpayments of royalties and create claim schedules
Perform ales reconciliations and rate analysis
Prepare written report of findings including calculations of claims and narrative describing procedures performed
Maintain organization of electronic files
Perform internet research and stay abreast of topics impacting participations, such as new exploitation platforms, international distribution, or new guild agreements
Review company responses to audit reports
Conduct fieldwork at auditee offices as needed
Other projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be located within Eastern or Central Time Zone; New York, NY or Nashville, TN preferred
Bachelor's degree required; Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or related degree is highly preferred
Education or internship experience within music or business management, entertainment, or royalties is a plus
Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and formulas (such as VLOOKUP and SUM-IF)
Experience with Power Pivot and Power Query is a plus
General understanding of mathematical and accounting principles
Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and analytically driven
Strong written and verbal communication skills, in addition to interpersonal skills and other key soft skills (i.e. time management, emotional intelligence, adaptability, active listening, critical-thinking, etc.)
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
Genuine interest in supporting entertainment clients and royalties
This is a non-exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $58,000 - $65,000. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k). Please note that the job title is subject to change based on the selected candidate’s experience and education.
