    Description

    The Route Sales Representative owns the growth and profitability of an assigned Tennessee-market territory of foodservice accounts. This is a sales-first role: you'll manage restaurant and operator relationships, sell in new menu placements and case volume, execute promotions, and grow your book of business. This role is compensated with a competitive base salary plus 7% commission on sales, rewarding reps who grow their territory.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and grow an assigned route of foodservice accounts (restaurants, cafes, and other food-away-from-home operators) across the Tennessee market, building strong relationships with owners, operators, and kitchen/beverage managers
    • Sell in new menu placements, secure incremental case volume, and pitch seasonal and promotional programs tailored to foodservice operations
    • Own volume and revenue targets for the territory; track performance against goals weekly and monthly
    • Partner with delivery teams to ensure foodservice accounts are properly stocked and product is rotated for freshness
    • Conduct regular account visits on an established route schedule, maintaining accurate call frequency
    • Prepare and present account reviews, pricing, and new product proposals to restaurant owners and operators
    • Monitor competitive activity, pricing, and market trends within the foodservice channel and report findings to management
    • Resolve customer service issues (out-of-stocks, invoicing, product quality) promptly and professionally
    • Maintain accurate warehouse inventory levels, coordinating with warehouse staff to ensure product availability for route needs
    • Maintain accurate records of sales calls, orders, and account activity in company systems

    Qualifications

    • 1+ years of outside sales, route sales, or DSD experience preferred; foodservice, restaurant, or beverage/CPG industry experience a plus
    • Proven track record of growing sales volume and building customer relationships
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
    • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on a set territory
    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when merchandising or assisting with product placement
    • Basic proficiency with smartphones, tablets, or handheld order-entry systems
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
