Route Driver

Summary:

• Location: Batavia, NY
• Perm Position
• Shift: Because this is a union shop, drivers must be open to the following start times: 2pm, 4pm, 7pm, 10pm
• There is a shift differential of .25/.50 depending on the shift
• This is a union facility, so drivers will enter the union after 30 days on the job (Teamsters)

Responsibilities:

• Operate company truck to pick up and deliver hospital linen at multiple medical facilities
• Load and unload laundry carts
• Establish professional relationships with customers and provide quality customer service
• Represent the company professionally in appearance, conduct, and performance while at customer locations
• Safe operation of company vehicles, including pre and post route inspections
• Maintain DOT compliance and follow hours of service rules
• Follow standard vehicle operating procedures
• Have excellent attendance
• Meet established route schedules
• Have good communication and customer service skills
• Follow all company safety rules
• Work well with a diverse workforce
• Follow directions given by their supervisor or manager
• Follow all company policies and procedures
• Maintain a positive attitude
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in line with company policies
• Deliver the product to our customers in a timely manner
• Work past the schedule as production/delivery issues may arise
• Properly maintain required daily and weekly paperwork
• Perform a daily visual inspection of the equipment
• Perform any other duties as supervisor/manager sees fit
• Cross-train on other routes per department needs
• Perform equipment moves to service provider for repairs and service as needed

Requirements:

• Be able to sit in a vehicle for several hours per day
• Be able to push/pull soil/clean carts weighing up to 800 lbs. (on wheels)
• Consistently meet physical requirements such as bending, twisting, lifting, and pulling
• Valid Class A driver's license
• Adhere to all DOT, state, and local regulations
• Must have a clean driving record per company policy
• Six months to one year of experience
• Available to drive nights and weekends
• Ability to speak and read the English language
• Ability to lift 25 pounds overhead
• Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs up to 10 hours per day
• Be able to use repetitive arm motions
