Bring your hands-on talent to a shop that keeps railcars moving. You’ll take on mechanical repair, foundational welding, and daily shop support—advancing your capabilities through guided, practical experience.
What You’ll Do
- Support general railcar repair operations and shop maintenance.
- Handle materials for ongoing repair projects.
- Operate shop machinery and mechanical hand tools.
- Execute basic cutting and welding; perform limited welds under close supervision.
- Remove/replace uncoupling levers; remove/dismantle couplers.
- Remove/replace brake levers; assist with car jacking.
- Take part in supervised railcar truck repair.
- Remove and update AEI tags.
- Develop toward certification in railcar welding positions (1G Flat and 2G Horizontal) while building basic stick welding knowledge.

Experience Needed
- Experience level: 3 years
- Preferred: 1 year mechanic experience
- Preferred: 1 year using hand tools
- Preferred: 1 year MIG welding
- Preferred: 1 year brake repair
