    Job Description

    Job Title - Robotics Welding Operator

    Job Summary

    The Welding Robot Operator/Technician is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining Cloos robotic welding systems to produce high-quality welded components safely and efficiently. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure welding processes meet production requirements, quality standards, and customer specifications.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Set up and operate Cloos robotic welding equipment and associated tooling.
    • Program, modify, and optimize welding robot programs for new and existing parts.
    • Load and unload materials and fixtures while maintaining production schedules.
    • Perform weld parameter adjustments to ensure quality and productivity targets are achieved.
    • Inspect welded components using measuring tools, gauges, and visual inspection standards.
    • Troubleshoot robotic welding equipment, welding processes, fixtures, and peripherals.
    • Perform routine preventive maintenance on robotic cells and welding equipment.
    • Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
    • Maintain accurate production, quality, and maintenance records.
    • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
    • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve welding and production issues.
    • Train operators on proper robotic welding procedures as needed.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
    • Experience operating robotic welding systems, preferably Cloos robots.
    • Knowledge of MIG, TIG, and/or resistance welding processes.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing quality standards and inspection methods.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Basic computer skills and experience with robotic programming interfaces.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate degree in Welding Technology, Robotics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
    • Experience with Cloos RoboPlan or similar robotic programming software.
    • AWS welding certification or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and industrial controls.
    • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, welding fumes, noise, and moving equipment.
    • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts consistent with a fabrication shop environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to changing weather conditions and working at moderate heights. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
