Robotics Equipment Assembly and Welding Specialist
Do you like turning drawings into running machines? Are you equally at home behind a MIG gun, at a mill, and on a customer production floor? If you’re energized by custom builds and short stints of travel (~15%) to install and support what you create, this role is for you.
Why This Role Matters
We design and build bespoke automated and robotic systems. You’ll be the hands and mind that transform engineered concepts into precise, reliable equipment—fabricating, assembling, installing, tuning, troubleshooting, repairing, and painting along the way.
What You’ll Tackle First
- Read blueprints and plan the build path for frames, guarding, fixtures, conveyors, and robot-ready mechanisms.
- Lay out, fit, and complete MIG welds on mild and stainless (aluminum at times); grind and finish to spec.
- Assemble and align bearings, belts, shafts, gears, sprockets, couplings, linear components, cylinders, valves, sensors, and guards.
- Use hand/power tools and precision measuring equipment to ensure tolerance and function.
- Operate manual machines for quick part mods; drill, tap, cut, grind, and fit as required.
- Inspect quality and escalate drawing or interference issues with clear, actionable feedback to engineering.
Then You’ll Go Further
- Partner with mechanical, controls, electrical, and fellow technicians to build prototypes from evolving designs.
- Provide feedback on assembly flow, serviceability, and design improvements; document tests and iterations.
- Support installation and startup at customer facilities—leveling, anchoring, aligning, adjusting, and function-testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot root causes using wear patterns, motion analysis, and performance data.
- Repair/replace belts, chains, gears, bearings, bushings, shafts, valves, cylinders, seals, fasteners, and similar parts.
- Validate repairs with functional tests and communicate outcomes to the team.
How You’ll Work
- Report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager while receiving tasking from project leadership as needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally—mechanical, controls, project management, sales, fabrication, installation, and customers.
- Join safety briefings and improvement huddles; share progress, risks, and material constraints promptly.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized workspace and comply with OSHA and company policies.
