You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of roadway construction projects, from initial planning and scheduling to execution and completion. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure that all work is carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of roadway construction projects, including earthwork, grading, road base, and civil construction.
  • Work closely with project managers and engineers to develop and implement project plans and schedules.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of construction crews and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Monitor grades and perform inspections to ensure quality control.
  • Manage construction resources and materials to ensure efficient use and minimize waste.
  • Resolve any issues or problems that arise during the construction process.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress and addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Promote a culture of safety, ensuring that all work is carried out in a manner that protects the health and safety of all workers.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy highway site development construction.
  • Experience with earthwork, grading, road base, and civil construction.
  • Proven track record as a Deputy Grading Inspector, with the ability to monitor grades and ensure quality control.
  • Knowledge of roadway construction sequencing and the ability to manage complex construction schedules.
  • Experience with construction management, including resource and materials management and problem resolution.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards related to roadway construction.
  • Experience with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) roadway procedures is a plus.
  • Highway, bridge, and drainage experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safety, with the ability to promote a culture of safety among construction crews and subcontractors.
