The hiring range for this position is $47.10 to $64.29. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.

We are looking for an RN Unit Manager to supervise and coordinate the activities of the nursing staff in performing and providing effective nursing care in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations and established quality care practices.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Interview, hire, supervise, coach, evaluate, discipline and assist employees in setting and meeting performance goals.
  • Develop and monitor performance and responsibilities of assigned staff while monitor staffing patterns.
  • Ensure completion of resident assessments as to current health status and past medical history
  • Demonstrate ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatment and procedures in accordance with physician orders, policies and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure the completion of all-inclusive, individualized care plan and ensure staff is educated to the plans
  • Ensure all staff meet and maintain resident care standards as outlined in care plan
  • Oversee and document pertinent information in resident's chart such as nursing interventions, any problems noted, limitations of resident or significant change in resident's mood, behavior, affect or cognition
  • Ensure resident care plans are updated when new health information on the resident's condition is presented
  • Use and adapt to new technologies, including tools, equipment, methods of application, computerized systems and processes, etc., to impact productivity of department and services; keep job-required technical skills up to date
  • Champion resident centered care and lead best practice initiatives
  • Continue ongoing communication with resident, responsible parties, physicians and others as appropriate
  • Inform Director of Nursing and or Assistant Director of Nursing of any significant resident, family or staff issues or concerns
  • Provide on call as scheduled
  • Assist with developing the department budgets
  • Develop, adhere, and justify operating and capital budget
  • Additional duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to make decisions and choices independently
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong clinical assessment skills
  • Strong clinical competencies
  • Ability to handle complex and routine tasks with minimal directions and supervision

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Ability and knowledge to care for cognitively impaired individuals

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia
  • Eight years nursing experience
  • Three years RN management experience

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing
  • Three years' experience with geriatric population
  • AED and CPR certified
