Job Summary:
An RN, Surgery Coordinator is a registered nurse, responsible for direct & indirect patient care of patients in their department. They are responsible for the daily coordination of surgical cases including planning, logistics, staffing, specific specialty needs, and instrumentation. This team member is also available during and after hours for consultation.
The RN, Surgery Coordinator must demonstrate critical thinking skills to ensure proper and timely care of elective, urgent, and emergent patients entering the Operating Room. The duties and responsibilities of the RN, Surgery Coordinator are interchangeable with the other RN, Surgery Coordinator duties and responsibilities.

CNOR (Permissible to obtain certification within one year of employment/transfer or eligibility) If certification is not obtained within one year of employment/transfer or eligibility, employee must maintain 30 contact hours/CEUs per year related to perioperative care. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the assessment, documentation, and evaluation of the plan of care for the patient during the perioperative phase of surgery. They must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to individualize patient care to meet age specific needs.
The surgery specialty coordinator works in collaboration with the medical, anesthesia, managerial, and clinical staff in order to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
