Description

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas has served North County's coastal communities since 1978. We're located at Santa Fe Drive and I-5, within walking distance of a park, fitness center, grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants.

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas' campus includes Scripps Clinic Encinitas and an outpatient imaging center. We're home to notable specialty programs including a 24-hour emergency room, accredited stroke care, physical rehabilitation services (including a brain injury day treatment program), our Baby Friendly birthing pavilion and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit.

This is a full-time benefited position working night shift. Schedule includes 12-hour charge shifts and 8-hour admin shifts.

Position does cover weekends and only takes calls on holidays as needed.

This role rotates work caring for L&D, Antepartum, Postpartum, and newborn patients. Located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

We invite you to join our highly engaged Maternal Child Health team as a Supervisor of Patient Care Registered Nurse.

As a Supervisor of Patient Care, you will ensure nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety. In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager, shares leadership responsibilities for the nursing unit, including managing daily staffing plans.
  • Ensures appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology (Teletracking) and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge.
  • Ensures the safe transition of patients through the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Two years' applicable clinical experience, one of which in a leadership role.
  • Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
  • Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
  • Graduate of an accredited program.

Required Certification/Registration:

  • Maintains current California RN license.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider.
  • At least 1-year of recent experience within a Post-Partum AND Labor and Delivery department in an Acute Care hospital environment.
  • Current NRP Certification (AAP Issued 7th or 8th edition)
  • Current Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification (AWHONN OR NCC).

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Two years' experience within a Post-Partum AND Labor and Delivery department in an Acute Care hospital environment preferred.

This position is eligible for New Hire and Relocation incentives based on eligibility.

  • Rehires that left Scripps less than 3 years ago

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met

  • Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
  • Must remain in original department/specialty
  • Must remain in original Job Title
  • Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.
