Job Details
Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with appropriate state licensure
Evidence of completion of a physical assessment skills course
Eligibility for Arizona School Nurse Certification
Current CPR Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of experience in nursing
Education or experience in pediatric nursing or urgent care nursing
Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
Knowledge of working with handicapped children and physical assessment skills, including sports injuries
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate health care needs of students
Maintain records as required by the school physician and in compliance with state laws
Administer medications and maintain records of dosages and any adverse effects
Educate students on personal hygiene and overall health care
Keep current medical records for each student
Conduct routine surveys and annual health screenings
Inform parents about student health status
Manage student emergencies related to accidents and health care
Communicate student health care needs to instructional staff and engage in sign language classes for communication with deaf students
Special Knowledge and Skills
Proficient in assessment and treatment of children aged four (4) to twenty-two (22) years
Strong planning, organization, and communication skills
Injury assessment skills are advantageous
Special Conditions/Requirements
Must utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required
