RN Scheduler - Interventional Radiology - Full Time - Days

To perform nursing assessments and provide patients with pre-operative instructions.

The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. All care is provided based on the concepts inherent in the model of care for TCH which promotes an on-going partnership between patients and families and the team of healthcare providers. The care is culturally based and age specific. The RN adheres to American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and to the scope of practice described in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:

EDUCATION:

• TCH does hire AD and Diploma nurses; however all nurses hired after January 2010 must receive their BSN within 5 years of the date of hire. RN's who were employed at TCH prior to January 2010, and have more than 20 years of experience as an RN are permitted to pursue their BSN on a voluntary basis.
• A MSN or DNP are not required but supersede the requirement for the BSN.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 6 years of nursing experience or equivalent experience required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: The RN demonstrates the knowledge, abilities, and skills to provide age and culturally specific patient care and education. The RN effectively communicates with peers, utilizes appropriate channels of communication and maintains absolute confidentiality. LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

The RN holds a current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio. Membership in professional organizations is desirable. BLS certification is required prior to patient contact. ACLS is required within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas. Certification in area of clinical specialty is expected within five years of eligibility.

Nursing Assessment/History

• Documents pertinent information in the Electronic chart
• Enters electronic orders from paper orders/provider orders
• Reviews any test results completed prior to procedure
• Identifies potential problems for procedure and communicates to physician or other appropriate personnel.
• Works with physician office and schedules patient procedures

Population based competency - shall primarily work with adult and geriatric patients or their representative. Should:

• Identify any language, mental, physical or cultural barriers. Utilizes and schedules appropriate interpreter services.
• Communicate barriers to appropriate personnel, department, agency

Implement necessary changes to ensure clear, polite understanding of Communicated material.

Communication

Serves as a primary contact with the patient/physician office via phone or in person, and provides services with compassion and respect.

Communicates patient/department issues to the department personnel or other areas and facilitates resolution.

• Provides written information in HIS or on paper to ensure other hospital personnel will be aware of any concerns, issues or need for follow-up.

Creates exceptional work environment:

Via Telephone:

• Identify yourself and location.
• Verifies patient identity with two patient identifiers (Name and DOB).
• Asks permission to place caller on hold and/or offers to take message and return call.
• Provides a helpful response. Tone of voice conveys willingness to assist caller.
