Registered Nurse - Postpartum
Job Summary
Provides nursing care to mothers and newborns during the postpartum period following vaginal or cesarean delivery. Monitors maternal recovery, supports newborn care and feeding, and educates families in preparation for discharge home.
Education & Experience
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• Minimum 1-2 years of postpartum, mother-baby, or obstetric nursing experience (Preferred)
Licenses & Certifications
• Current RN license in state of practice (Required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (Preferred)
Key Responsibilities
• Monitors maternal vital signs, fundal tone, and recovery following vaginal or cesarean delivery.
• Performs newborn assessments and monitors for signs of complications.
• Supports and educates mothers on breastfeeding and newborn feeding techniques.
• Administers medications and manages pain control for postpartum patients.
• Provides education on newborn care, safe sleep, and postpartum recovery prior to discharge.
• Documents maternal and newborn assessments, interventions, and patient response.
