Job Summary

RN - Peds Oncology -Hem/Onc

Contract

In-Office | Mesa, AZ, United States


APHON certification required; weekends, Holidays, and Float per department guidelines.


Responsibilities

  • Provide pediatric oncology and hematology nursing care to patients.

  • Administer treatments, monitor for adverse effects, and ensure patient safety.

  • Coordinate care across multi-disciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Educate patients and families about treatment plans, procedures, and follow-up.

  • Track and report clinical outcomes and performance metrics for continuous improvement.

  • Ensure accurate documentation in electronic health records and compliance with policies.

  • Proactively identify safety risks and participate in quality assurance initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain pipelines to forecast patient load, staffing needs, and resource requirements.

  • Participate in professional development activities to advance clinical skills and knowledge.

  • Support on-site patient navigation to optimize throughput and reduce wait times.

  • Contribute to onboarding and mentoring of new staff to promote team performance.


Experience/Qualifications

  • Active RN license with pediatric oncology/hematology certification preferred.

  • Experience in pediatric oncology/hematology nursing and chemotherapy administration.

  • Proficiency in electronic health records documentation and clinical data reporting.

  • Strong patient and family education skills for treatment plans and procedures.

  • Patient safety monitoring, adverse event management, and quality assurance participation.

  • Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate care.

  • Capacity planning: forecast patient load, staffing, and resource needs.

  • On-site patient navigation support to improve throughput and reduce wait times.

  • Ability to mentor new staff and contribute to onboarding processes.

  • Must be comfortable with performance-based environment and high activity visibility.
