Unit Name: Burn ICU/PCU

Number of Beds: 6

Patient Ratios: Varies based on acuity; adult-only unit.

Staffing Description

• Charge Nurse

• Alaris IV Pumps
• Hill-Rom Beds and Call Light System
• GE Cardiac Monitoring Equipment

Documentation System

Scheduling Requirements

Must complete 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week scheduling period.

Patient Experience Requirements

• Uphold the mission and values of the unit.
• Treat every patient with courtesy and respect.
• Adhere to bedside shift report requirements.

Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• TNCC
• NIH, ABLS preferred but not required

Qualifications

• ICU or PCU background required.
• Burn experience preferred.
• Experience with ICU/PCU level of care is necessary.
• Cardiac rhythm proficiency required.

Advanced Skills Required

• NIH Certification
• Hemodynamic Monitoring
• Proficient in hemodynamic drip titration

Procedures Performed on Unit

• Debridement and dressing changes
• Line insertion
• Chest tube insertions and maintenance
• Post-operative procedural care

Dress Code

Required uniform: Navy blue scrub top; navy blue or black scrub pants; scrub jacket. No t-shirts, hoodies, or sweatshirts allowed.

Unit Environment

• Mixed acuity level department: ICU/PCU/telemetry/med-surg.
• Patients stay in the unit from admission to discharge, regardless of level of care.
