    Summary
    • Department: Observation Unit
    • Shift Timings: 18:30 - 07:00 Hours Monday to friday (3 Days/ 12 Hours)
    • Per Week: 36 hours
    • Unit Capacity: 36 Beds Population Served: Cardiac and Neuro Stepdown: Cardiac bedside monitoring, Cardiac drips, TR bands, Post heart caths, Stroke/Neuro patients, BIPAP overflows Ages of Patients Served: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+) Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6 Core Staffing Plan: Variable staffing grid to include: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs). An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on each team.

    Staffing Certification:
    • Travel RN OR tho/Neuro
    • RN OR tho/Neuro
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Certification National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test

    Responsibilities
    Job Summary:
    • Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
    Responsibilities:
    • Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
    • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
    • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
    • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
