Position Purpose

The Throughput Manager - Patient Logistics plays a critical leadership role within our centralized throughput hub, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of patients across the acute care continuum.
This role is responsible for overseeing daily hub operations, leading a multidisciplinary team, and driving process improvements that enhance patient flow, optimize bed utilization, and reduce length of stay. The Throughput Manager collaborates across departments to ensure seamless care transitions and supports an environment of clinical and operational excellence aligned with the Mission and Core Values of Trinity Health.
What You Will Do
Lead and supervise daily operations of the Patient Logistics Hub, ensuring efficient patient throughput across the organization
Collaborate with nursing leadership, house supervisors, bed management, transport, environmental services, and clinical teams to optimize patient placement and bed utilization
Round on units to validate patient discharge status and bed readiness (clean/dirty/available)
Develop, monitor, and report key performance indicators and throughput metrics
Identify process improvement opportunities and implement data-driven solutions to improve patient flow and reduce length of stay
Coordinate resources during urgent and emergent situations, including staffing reallocation
Supervise, coach, and develop hub staff, including scheduling, performance management, and professional development
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and orientation of new team members
Ensure appropriate staffing plans are in place to support safe, high-quality, 24/7 operations
Collaborate with finance to develop and manage departmental budgets and productivity plans
Partner with unit leadership to support patient-centered throughput and quality improvement initiatives
Promote service excellence through leadership rounding and service recovery strategies
Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
Serve as a key administrative resource in the absence of managers or senior leadership
Participate in patient care activities as needed to support operations
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field strongly preferred
Licensure:
Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of acute care nursing experience (ICU, ED, or Medical-Surgical strongly preferred)
Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare operations, patient flow, and hospital throughput
Certifications:
BLS and ACLS certification required
Specialty certification preferred (based on clinical area)

Compensation: Pay Range: $54.40-$81.60
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
