    Location: Des Moines, Iowa
    Employment Type: 3 Months Contract
    Work Schedule: 3 Days per Week
    Shift:7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (Day Shift)
    Work Setting: Onsite

    The Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (ICU RN) provides comprehensive nursing care for critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced medical interventions. The ICU RN is responsible for implementing individualized care plans, administering treatments, monitoring patient responses, supervising nursing support staff, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.

    Key Responsibilities
    Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
    Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuous monitoring.
    Implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
    Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
    Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, ventilators, and other life-support equipment.
    Carry out physician orders accurately and safely.
    Coordinate patient care with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
    Direct and supervise nursing personnel assigned to the unit.
    Maintain unit operations in the absence of the Head Nurse, as assigned.
    Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
    Maintain accurate patient documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
    Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and ongoing care.
    Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
    Deliver compassionate, patient-centered critical care.

    Required Qualifications
    Minimum 2 years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse experience.
    Current Registered Nurse (RN) License.
    Experience caring for critically ill adult patients.
    Experience implementing critical care nursing plans.
    Experience with cardiac monitoring and advanced patient assessment.
    Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills.
    Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    Ability to work independently in a fast-paced ICU environment.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Current BLS Certification.
    Current ACLS Certification.
    NIH Stroke Certification.
    CCRN Certification.
    Ventilator management experience.
    Hospital-based ICU experience.
    Epic or other Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
    Experience with vasoactive drips, arterial lines, and central lines.
