    Registered Nurse - Infusion Nurse
    Reports to:
    Nurse Supervisor
    Pay Range: Up to $44.00/hour

     

    Position Summary
    The Registered Nurse (RN) / Infusion Nurse plays a vital role in delivering
    high-quality, patient-centered care within the Neurology Department. This position is
    responsible for providing and coordinating clinical care activities, administering
    infusion therapies, supporting complex treatment plans, and offering education and
    emotional support to patients and their families. The RN ensures that patients with
    neurological conditions receive compassionate, comprehensive, and timely
    healthcare services in accordance with established clinical standards.

    Essential Functions

    Patient Care & Triage

    • Participates in and supports all aspects of patient care with emphasis on
      patient response, safety, and comfort.
    • Performs clinical triage and ensures timely follow-up on medical concerns, referrals, and diagnostic testing.
    • Plans, modifies, and implements evidence-based nursing interventions and communicates care plans clearly to patients and families.

     

    Clinical Documentation

    • Accurately updates and maintains patient electronic medical records (EMR)
      in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Ensures all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.

     

    Care Coordination

    • Develops, implements, and monitors individualized nursing care plans for
      high-risk patients.
    • Provides education on neurological conditions, medications, and treatment expectations.
    • Facilitates referrals, distributes educational materials, and recommends community support services as appropriate.

     

    Infusion Therapy & IV Management

    • Inserts, monitors, manages, and removes IV lines for a variety of
      neurological infusion therapies.
    • Monitors patients for adverse reactions during infusions and initiates
      appropriate interventions.
    • Safely administers medications and documents all treatments according to
      policy.

     

    Phlebotomy & Lab Support

    • Performs venipuncture, blood collection, and proper specimen preparation
      for laboratory testing.

     

    Patient Communication

    • Clarifies medical plans of care and responds to patient questions via
      phone, email, and in person.
    • Provides supportive guidance and ensures patients fully
      understand treatment instructions.

     

    Clinic Flow Support

    • Escorts patients to exam rooms and assists with maintaining efficient, timely patient flow throughout the clinic.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Monitors inventory of medical supplies and communicates needs to the Nurse Manager.
    • Ensures emergency medical equipment is regularly checked, maintained, and ready for use.
    • Adheres to all clinical protocols, infection-control procedures, and safety guidelines.
    • Participates in team meetings, continuing education, and quality-improvement initiatives as needed.

     

    Minimum Job Requirements

    • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program.
    • Current, active New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse license.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience, preferably in an outpatient or specialty clinic setting.
    • Minimum of one (1) year infusion experience required.
    • One (1) year chemotherapy infusion experience is preferred.
    • Current CPR certification.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
