About Us - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Located on the second floor at Freeman Hospital West

We have a 31 bed ICU and a 7 bed CVICU.

What You'll Do

In conjunction with the medical plan of care, independently perform systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families; plan and implements appropriate interventions and evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner in the provision of safe and effective care.

Requirements

Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump Training (IABP) within 1 year of hire.

Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) training within 1 year of hire.

Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse's state of residence.

If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.

AHA ACLS within 90 days.

AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.

CardioVascular Disease CEU hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.

NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 90 days.

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) within 180 days.

RN Competency Day annually by transcript due date.

Stroke CEU Hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.

Trauma CEU Hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.

Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 365 days.

Job Description Summary

In conjunction with the medical plan of care, independently perform systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families; plan and implements appropriate interventions and evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner in the provision of safe and effective care.

Essential Functions:

Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's health status

Formulates patient plan of care based on assessment of patient needs

Implements plan of nursing care in a safe and effective manner

Performs coordination of care in collaboration with healthcare team

Evaluates patient response to plan of care and updates and revises plan accordingly

Accurately documents patient treatment and response and maintains an accurate account in patient record

Demonstrates professional behavior

Actively performs teaching and supervision of others and performance of care delivery

Demonstrates good customer service skills, communicates and works effectively with others
