    RN - FAMILY MEDICINE
    Join our Family Medicine Clinic team at Moab Regional Hospital!

    Rural nursing at its finest!
    Are you and RN who enjoys the rapid pace of a thriving Family Medicine clinic and the variety, autonomy, and clinical judgment that come with rural healthcare? Join our team and work alongside multiple providers and medical assistants to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care in a collaborative outpatient environment.
    This position offers the opportunity to utilize the full scope of professional nursing practice while serving as a clinical resource and leader with the Family Medicine team. The RN works collaboratively with providers and medical assistants, assists with clinical decision-making and triage, supports efficient patient flow, provides patient education, and performs nursing responsibilities that require RN-level assessment, judgment, and licensure.
     
    This position is a non-exempt, full-time, benefitted position.
    Anticipated schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
    Starting pay range: $32.92 – $46.88/hour, DOE.
    A sign-on bonus is available for permanent, full-time hire.


    Job Duties and Responsibilities:
     
    Clinical Nursing Responsibilities
    • Provide professional nursing care to patients in the Family Medicine outpatient setting in accordance with professional standards, applicable laws and regulations, and Moab Regional Hospital policies and procedures.
    • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
    • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and recognize changes in patient condition requiring provider evaluation or intervention.
    • Provide RN-level triage of patient calls, portal messages, walk-in concerns, and other clinical requests; determine appropriate disposition and communicate with providers when indicated.
    • Administer medications, vaccinations, injections, and other treatments within RN scope of practice and according to established protocols and provider orders.
    • Perform nursing procedures and clinical tasks that require RN assessment, judgment, or licensure and are outside the scope of the medical assistant role.
    • Monitor patients before, during, and after medications, treatments, procedures, and vaccinations and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or changes in condition.
    • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and other clinical interventions as needed.
    • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, disease management, preventive care, follow-up instructions, and self-management of chronic and acute conditions.
    • Reinforce provider treatment plans and ensure patients understand follow-up recommendations, precautions, and when to seek additional care.
    • Obtain and document patient histories, medication reconciliation, screenings, vital signs, and other clinical information as needed.
    • Perform or assist with RN visits, including medication teaching, injections, wound and suture care, follow-up assessments, chronic disease monitoring, and other nursing services.
    • Coordinate patient care, referrals, diagnostic testing, follow-up, and communication between patients, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
    • Recognize and escalate abnormal findings, urgent clinical concerns, and changes in patient condition appropriately.
     
    Clinical Leadership and Team Support
    • Serve as a clinical resource and leader for medical assistants and other clinic staff, providing guidance, support, and assistance with clinical questions and patient care concerns.
    • Work collaboratively with multiple Family Medicine providers to support safe, efficient, and consistent patient care across provider teams.
    • Assist medical assistants with clinical questions, assessment concerns, prioritization of patient needs, and appropriate escalation to providers or nurses.
    • Help coordinate daily clinical workflow and patient care  needs, particularly during high-volume periods or when unexpected clinical issues arise.
    • Promote consistent adherence to established clinical workflows, policies, procedures, standing orders, infection prevention practices, medication/vaccine administration standards, and patient safety practices.
    • Assist with orientation, training, mentoring, and competency development of medical assistants and other clinical staff as assigned.
    • Identify opportunities to improve patient care, clinical workflows, communication, and team efficiency and participate in implementation of improvements.
    • Serve as a professional nursing role model and promote respectful, collaborative communication among providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the healthcare team.
     
    Documentation, Quality, and Professional Practice
    • Document patient care, assessments, interventions, education, communication, and follow-up in the electronic health record according to established standards.
    • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable hospital, state, and federal requirements.
    • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, medication safety, and other clinical initiatives.
    • Participate in the development, review, and maintenance of clinic policies, procedures, protocols, standing orders, and clinical workflows.
    • Maintain professional competence through continuing education, training, competency assessment, and professional development.
    • Demonstrate appropriate use of nursing judgment, delegation, and escalation consistent with RN scope of practice.
    • Promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to patients, families, providers, and all members of the care delivery team.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum requirements:
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    • Current Utah Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
    • One year professional nursing experience preferred; ambulatory, family medicine, urgent care, or rural healthcare experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
    • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, triage, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Ability to provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to medical assistant and other members of the care team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and appropriately recognize when provider consultation or escalation is needed.
    • Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
    • Able to life/move up to 20 lbs. without assistance and life/move more than 20 lbs. with assistance.
