Job Summary

The Registered Nurse I is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. This role requires utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures to monitor and evaluate patient functional status.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to care for patients.
  • Assess, organize, and complete patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
  • Document steps of the nursing process using proper medical terminology.
  • Address problems and progress toward goals.
  • Facilitate patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Support unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
  • Exercise independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
  • Work directly with patients and/or customers.
  • Engage with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Six (6) to twelve (12) months of RN experience. Entry-level applicants will not be considered.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous emergency room experience.

Schedule Notes

  • Night shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
  • Requires 1 year of experience in an emergency room, preferably in a Trauma 1 setting.
  • Seeking a team player who can process instructions quickly and possesses a strong personality.
  • Relocation bonus available for candidates with 1 year of experience and residing 71 miles away from the center, with a 2-year commitment.
