Description:

The Clinical Manager II is responsible for providing leadership and operational oversight for the Operating Room during evening, weekend, and night shifts. This role manages departmental staff, ensures high-quality patient care, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support safe, efficient clinical operations. The manager utilizes the nursing process to support optimal patient outcomes while maintaining regulatory compliance and service excellence.

This position oversees clinical and support staff and supports multiple surgical service lines, including but not limited to neurology, orthopedics, plastics, and ENT.

Must‑Have Qualifications

Licensing & Certification

  • Active Texas RN License or multi-state compact RN license, free of disciplinary action
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care Operating Room (OR) experience
  • Minimum 3 years of current OR management experience
  • Experience leading clinical teams in a hospital or surgical setting

Availability & Documentation

  • Full-time night shift availability required
  • Updated resume with accurate job history, employment dates, and units worked

Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional certification in clinical specialty or nursing management

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Operational Leadership

  • Manage daily operations of the OR department, including staffing, scheduling, and continuity of care
  • Serve as a clinical leader and provide direct patient care as needed
  • Oversee nursing and support staff, including RNs, technicians, and coordinators

Staff Management & Development

  • Recruit, retain, coach, and develop team members
  • Provide timely performance feedback and participate in performance evaluations
  • Support onboarding, education, and professional development initiatives

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and Board of Nursing requirements
  • Promote a culture of safety for patients, staff, and visitors
  • Monitor productivity, supply utilization, and quality metrics within budgetary guidelines

Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with physicians, leadership, and interdisciplinary partners
  • Participate in continuous process improvement and outcome evaluation initiatives
  • Support patient-centered care across the full continuum

Professional Practice

  • Model service excellence, professionalism, and compassionate care

  • Support mandatory education, competency validations, and departmental goals

  • Serve as a resource, mentor, or preceptor to staff as needed

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Number of Direct Reports/FTEs: Approximately 65+
  • Management scope includes evening, weekend, and night shift operations
