Description

The RN Appointment Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all appointments, clinics and related communication with staff, families and physicians on the Adolescent/Young Adult Complex Medical unit. This position will all oversee the vaccine program and provide professional nursing services to the children. Assistance with personal cares and skill development is provided as needed.

Schedule & Benefits
Generally M-F within 7a-5p, flexible to meet unit needs.

What You'll Do

  • Attend and coordinate all aspects of children’s appointments. Facilitate physician communication pertaining to appointments both prior to and follow-up after. Facilitate coverage for appointments if not able to attend, both on the unit and for the appointment. Facilitate communication with transportation dept.
  • Facilitate communication with care team members regarding appointments and related care issues.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of pertinent documentation and orders relating to appointments.
  • Ensure prior authorizations are completed.
  • Oversee vaccine program for inpatient children and young adults. Provide back-up for Care Coordinator position when needed. Oversee all coverage and care coordination of clinics (Dental, Pulmonology).
  • Complete all other duties as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Current valid license as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
  • Five years nursing experience in the field of pediatrics and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in care coordination and program facilitation preferred.
  • Maneuver within the physical work environment with some bending, stooping, reaching and light lifting.
  • Documentation of current CPR/BLS certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
