Responsibilities:
The Risk Manager is responsible for risk management activities for Reading Hospital and Tower Health's associated entities reporting to the System Director, Risk Management.
The Risk Manager:
- Participates in the management of various lines of insurance coverage and related activities, including preparation of materials and completion of applications for insurance renewals
- Takes part in claims management activities, including significant interaction and confidential communication with legal counsel, third-party administrator, insurance carriers, and brokerage firms
- Assists with managing and analyzing risk management activities and claims data, and providing risk management educational programs
- Develops loss prevention programs to control company losses and minimize the adverse financial impact to the organization
- Manages the malpractice insurance program including reporting to the Medical Care Availability and Reduction of Error Fund ("Mcare"), new/renewal submissions, malpractice Certificates of Coverage, maintenance of provider database
- Assists in processing subpoenas, summons, and complaints served on employees, Tower Health and Tower Health entities
- Acts as a consultant to internal and external parties to assist with assessing risk and identifying risk reduction strategies, providing guidance and education for reducing risk related to regulations, and helping to create and refine policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Education Requirements
- 4 year Bachelor's Degree - OR - combination of relevant education & experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree
Experience
- Experience in Healthcare Risk Management, Insurance, MCARE Fund Insurance, Claims Management, and Contract Review
- Paralegal background helpful but not required
Certification and Licensure
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) at hire or within 24 months of hire
