Job Summary: Responsible for management of the Risk Management Department and the various functions under its umbrella, including but not limited to: regulatory preparedness, patient safety, CORE measures, professional practice evaluation/peer review, occurrence reporting and claims management. Provides reports to the QM Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Safety Committee, administrative team and health plans as requested and required. Serves as the Tempe contact for risk management, collaborates with the Senior Director and Corporate Risk to address risk issues. Facilitates and participates in performance improvement and risk-reduction activities. Assures collaboration between quality, risk, patient relations and case management functions. Assists in formulating and monitoring the budget for the areas included. Limited travel between Phoenix area hospitals may be required

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Current Arizona Registered Nurse Licensure, preferred.
  • BSN or Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Related Field.
  • 2 or more years of clinical experience in an acute care setting; and 3 or more years of quality or risk management experience.
  • CPHQ preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial and statistical reports.

Skills:

  • Intermediate computer knowledge.
  • Understanding of varying hardware, software, word processing and database products.
  • Ability to independently learn and utilize multiple programs in a manner to facilitate department processes.
