Right of Way Specialist

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Our client is seeking a Right of Way Specialist to support land acquisition and Right of Way projects in a variety of locations. This role will be responsible for facilitating land acquisitions, negotiations, property research, title and survey review, permitting activities, construction coordination, and restoration efforts related to Right of Way projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience with real estate documentation, title work, land surveys, stakeholder management, permitting, and project coordination. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a project team.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate various aspects of land acquisitions, negotiations, property research, title and survey review, permitting, construction coordination, and restoration for Right of Way projects.
  • Analyze, prepare, review, and interpret land and Right of Way-related agreements, deeds, easements, leases, permits, and licenses.
  • Research and collect real property-related project documents.
  • Translate data from Right of Way documents into stakeholder management databases.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of stakeholder management database entries submitted by Right of Way field agents.
  • Present technical data to Right of Way project teams and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications for project teams.
  • Prepare project status reports, technical reports, and acquisition reports for project teams and/or client management.
  • Support document preparation and control, meeting agendas, and other project-related activities.
  • Assist with subcontractor management, including reviewing contracts, invoices, and change orders.
  • Assist with presentations at public involvement meetings.
  • Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
  • Assist in establishing and tracking critical project objectives within defined project parameters.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Comply with all company policies and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
  • Associate Degree plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to read and understand title reports, appraisal reports, and land surveys.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general real estate law.
  • Demonstrated understanding of real estate title work.
  • Experience with database system management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must meet the standards to qualify for and maintain company vehicle driving privileges in accordance with the applicable Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Senior Right of Way Professional (SR/WA) designation preferred.
  • Other certification from the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) preferred.
  • Real Estate Broker or Sales License preferred.
