    Description

    NIKA is hiring for a Rigger to support our mission support client at USCG Base in Kodiak, AK. This role will operate fully onsite.

    Job Description:

    • Execute Lifts: Secure heavy loads, machinery, and structures for crane and winch operations.
    • Marine Rigging: Handle vessel vessel-to-shore loading, sea-fastening, and lifting affected by tides and swells.
    • Land Rigging: Set up mobile and gantry cranes on varying terrain using outrigger pads and mats.
    • Inspect Gear: Check slings, shackles, wire ropes, and spreader bars daily for wear and damage.
    • Signals & Comms: Guide operators using standard hand signals and VHF radios in high-noise zones.
    • Calculate Physics: Determine exact load weights, center of gravity, and lifting angles before rigging.
    • Certification: Valid NCCCO Certified Rigger (Level I or II) or equivalent credential.
    • Experience: Minimum 3 years of rigging experience, with exposure to both land and maritime/shipyard job sites.
    • Compliance: Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 (Construction) and OSHA 1915 (Shipyard) standards.
    • Physical Fitness: Ability to work at heights, over water, lift up to 70 lbs, and work outdoors in all weather.
    • Safety First: Zero-tolerance attitude toward unsafe lifting practices and shortcuts.
    • Must be US Citizen
    • Must maintain in good standing with Teamsters 959 Union
