Job Summary

Responsible for organizational development and daily operations of a cohesive, quality focused, professional outpatient rheumatology program. To provide leadership and clinical management expertise to the rheumatology program in order to achieve care that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable and patient centered. The Medical Director is responsible for the monitoring of care delivered to patients by the advance practice professionals ensuring that a high standard of medical care and customer service is practiced. Medical director will also be responsible for resident education based on guidance from CAMC's GME office and the institutional DIO.

Responsibilities

  • Physician will provide care to CAMC patients in the field of Rheumatology. Compliance with the highest standards of medical art and science will be demonstrated. Care will be delivered in the appropriate setting and coordinated with the staff and present at each site. The physician will take the lead in all patient care issues and will be ultimately responsible for the outcome of the encounter.
  • Physician will provide services on a "full-time" employment basis. This may take place in the Rheumatology clinic or at any of the three divisions of CAMC, dictated by need. Work activity will be comprised of but not limited to the following professional activity: patient evaluation, management, consultations and clinic.
  • Physician will provide leadership in the development of CAMC Rheumatology programs.
  • Physician will collaborate with CAMC purchasing to continuously improve balance of quality and pricing for supplies.
  • Physician will coordinate recruitment of Rhematology staff and will collaborate in other Rhematology and ancillary/adjunctive specialties.
  • Physician will collaborate with physicians with patient referrals.
  • Physician will provide leadership in teaching with residents and organization of rotations and experience.
  • Physician will provide provider expertise in marketing of programs and will work in support of CAMC Marketing representatives/initiatives.
  • Physician will provide leadership to and supervision of employed Rheumatology staff.
  • Demonstrate willingness to review practice related data from local,regional and national databases and other clinical quality and Value Based Purchasing Initiatives to Improve processes and outcomes for continuous learning and advancement of care and services.
  • The physician will work collaboratively with the assigned Practice Manager/Administrator of the Rheumatology for day to day operations.
  • With regard to Issues of clinical practice the physician with will collaborate with the ACMO and with the assigned associate administrator/administrator. Employment matters within chain of command are directed to the VP of ambulatory services. Medical Affairs matters will report to CAMC VPMA and CMO.
  • Make necessary changes In the schedule to meet day-to-day patient care demands for safe and appropriate provision or care.
  • Development and Implement performance assessment and Improvement Initiatives including but not limited to, monitoring and reporting compliance with pertinent protocols and evidence based guidelines and to Improve the goals of the Individual and collective clinical performance of the program.
  • Direct the development and Implementation of standard operating procedures, Polley Manual,evidence-based protocols, guidelines, order sets and clinical documentation tools to support care which Is safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable and patient centered.
  • Act as a liaison for the Rheumatology program to medical staff and other hospital departments to proactively promote cooperation and effectiveness.
  • Participate with Administration in the development and implementation of the business model, to assure the provision of care which is based on access, cost and quality, including but not limited to accurate and timely documentation, correct coding and revenue cycle improvements.
  • Meet with the Management to discuss the progress or the program, review data, and plan operational improvements.
  • Oversee orientation, evaluation and supervision plan for Fellowship program. Assure compliance with related licensed scope-of-practice, CAMC, GME and Medical Staff policies and privileges granted. Should CAMC deem applicable.
  • Plan and assure appropriate orientation for new members.
  • Responsible for mentoring and annual assessments of group practice regarding strengths and weaknesses with action plans and goals developed to address opportunities for development.
  • Provide guidance for any necessary discipline In accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assure on-going professional development continuing medical education regarding the practice of Rheumatology.
  • Direct and coordinate all aspects of the Rheumatology program, including but not limited to access, cost and quality outcome reporting.
  • Oversee the recruitment process and make hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Continue with the provision of patient care services as a practicing clinician/surgeon.
  • Support and implement new technology and quality reporting initiatives, including but not limited to electronic medical records, e-prescribing, MIPS and other Initiatives deemed essential.
  • Work with management, staff and providers on creating an environment that promotes high levels of employee satisfaction/engagement and patient satisfaction/experience.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
