Description

This role combines revenue cycle leadership with deep technology and analytics expertise. The Director will own the billing system environment, lead upgrades and platform migrations, develop financial and operational reporting, leverage advanced Excel and BI tools, and implement AI and automation to streamline revenue cycle workflows. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable leading a team, analyzing payer performance, troubleshooting a billing system, building a data model, and configuring an AI-enabled workflow.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end revenue cycle operations from patient access through billing, collections, cash application, and denials.
    Own overall RCM performance, KPIs, cash flow, AR, and reimbursement results across multiple sites.
  • Manage and optimize the billing system environment, including configuration, workflows, interfaces, and data integrity.
  • Lead billing system upgrades, implementations, and platform migrations from requirements through stabilization.
  • Develop and maintain financial and operational RCM reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Build sophisticated Excel, BI, and data models to analyze revenue cycle performance and identify opportunities.
  • Analyze payer performance, contracts, reimbursement trends, denials, and underpayments to improve financial outcomes.
  • Develop detailed billing ledger reporting and automated reconciliations in partnership with Finance.
  • Identify and implement AI, automation, and technology solutions across revenue cycle workflows.
  • Design, configure, and manage AI agents and automated workflows, including appropriate controls and monitoring.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the revenue cycle team, establishing accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the CFO, Finance, Operations, IT, and executive leadership to drive strategic RCM initiatives and communicate results to senior leadership and the Board.
     
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Health Administration, Health Information Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
    7+ years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle experience, including 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Proven ownership of end-to-end revenue cycle operations with a track record of measurable KPI improvement.
  • Hands-on experience administering healthcare billing/practice management systems, including configuration and master file management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a billing system upgrade, implementation, or platform migration/conversion.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, complex formulas, modeling, and large datasets.
  • Strong reporting, analytics, and data reconciliation skills, including building detailed billing reports and reconciling to the general ledger.
  • Knowledge of government and commercial payer requirements, EDI transactions, and denial management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and financial information for executives and clinicians.
