Be part of the team that's shaping the future of retail technology at Alex Lee. As a Retail Systems QA Analyst, you'll help support the technology that powers our supermarkets, fuel centers, and food service operations while helping ensure a reliable experience for customers and store hosts. 

The Retail Systems QA Analyst supports the testing and quality assurance of in-store retail technology solutions. This position performs functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing using established test plans, test cases, and procedures. The role documents test results, identifies and reports defects, and works with team members to reproduce and troubleshoot issues.

This role provides hands-on experience in a dedicated retail lab environment with a variety of technologies used across supermarket, fuel, and food service operations. These may include traditional cashier lanes, self-checkout systems, mobile point of sale (POS) solutions, fuel pump systems, and grocery/loyalty/ecommerce platforms.

This position is an opportunity to build experience in software quality assurance and retail technology while developing technical skills, learning retail systems and processes, and pursuing career growth within the Retail Systems team. 

Responsibilities:
  • Execute assigned test cases and test scenarios for retail applications, including software releases, enhancements, patches, integrations, and system upgrades
  • Perform manual and exploratory testing to verify application functionality, usability, integrations, and interactions between systems and devices
  • Identify, document, and track software and system defects using established defect tracking processes. Provide sufficient information to help team members reproduce and investigate issues
  • Perform regression and other assigned testing activities to help verify software changes meet defined business and technical requirements
  • Review business requirements, functional specifications, and test documentation to develop an understanding of expected system behavior and identify questions or discrepancies
  • Assist with testing activities related to production releases, application upgrades, post-release validation
  • Communicate testing progress, results, and issues clearly to team members and project stakeholders
  • Escalate complex or high-impact issues to appropriate senior team members
  • Develop a working understanding of retail operations and how technology supports areas such as POS, loyalty, fuel, and other retail systems
  • Develop knowledge of QA tools, testing techniques, retail technologies, and industry practices through hands-on experience and collaboration with team members
  • Participate in identifying opportunities for repeatable or automated testing and assist with automation activities as skills and experience develop
Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent education, training, or professional experience may be considered
  • Experience working in a grocery retail, customer-facing, or transactional environment is preferred
  • 0–2 years of experience in software quality assurance, application testing, systems support, technical support, or a related technology field
  • Experience using or testing retail applications, POS systems, store technology solutions, or other customer-facing systems preferred
  • Experience or coursework involving software testing, troubleshooting, application support, or information technology a plus
  • Basic understanding of software testing concepts, including test cases, test execution, regression testing, and defect reporting

TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Exposure to retail POS or other customer-facing systems
  • Ability to learn and work with new retail technologies, applications, devices, and testing tools
  • Basic understanding of software testing concepts and quality assurance practices
  • Experience in creating technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, user procedures, test artifacts, and knowledge base content
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, test documentation tools, and defect tracking systems
  • Basic understanding of system integrations, data validation, and application troubleshooting
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, system configuration, and application support concepts
  • Familiarity with mobile devices and applications; Android preferred
  • Experience with Toshiba Elera POS hardware or software is a plus, but not required
