Restaurant General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years as General Manager in fine dining or upscale restaurant settings
  • Minimum 10 years total in a Restaurant General Manager role
  • Absolute fluency in Spanish
  • Strong managerial and team leadership experience
  • Exceptional attention to service detail and guest needs
  • Proven ability to work hands-on and lead directly on the floor
  • Experience collaborating with department heads and owner-operated venues
  • Outstanding skills in hiring, training, and mentoring staff
  • Experience with tasting menus and exceptional table-side service
  • Willingness and ability to relocate to Mexico

Restaurant General Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Sommelier certification
  • Experience working with labor unions in Mexico
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is mandatory
  • Background with owner or independent restaurant concepts

Restaurant General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee and work the dining room floor to ensure every guest receives impeccable service
  • Coordinate, communicate, and support all steps of service with the team
  • Ensure the dining area is beautifully set and maintained according to highest standards
  • Lead, coach, and schedule a front-of-house team of six management reports
  • Foster collaboration with other departments to deliver exceptional VIP and guest experiences
  • Drive training and growth opportunities for all front-of-house staff
