Our Respite Program offers specialized childcare to children with special needs and their siblings, providing parents and guardians with a break from the daily stress of caring for their child’s needs. To ensure success as a respite worker, it is essential to demonstrate experience in a similar role and working in the special education sector. Ultimately, a top-notch respite worker will be someone who can be relied upon to perform their duties with patience and compassion. Respite visits are conducted in the client’s homes or an agreed-upon location. Interested persons with the following backgrounds are perfect candidates for this position: Registered Behavior Technicians, Occupational and Physical Therapist Assistants, Speech Language Pathologist Assistants, ESE Aides, or Teachers preferred.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED
· 2 years’ experience in special education preferred.

Responsibilities
· Develop and implement activities to assure the safety and well-being of each child.
· Provide personal care that may be required, like feeding, dressing, toileting, bathing,
· Initiate, motivate, and supervise activities that will enrich the child’s experience during respite care.
· Build positive relationships with clients and their families while respecting their confidentiality.
· Maintain the family’s home in the condition it was found.
· Be prompt in all assignments.
· Effectively and clearly communicate with parents about care provided and report any concerns or problems,
· Complete all required paperwork and documentation, per visit. Compile and submit by last day of the month.
· Comply with Easterseals policies and procedures utilizing the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and behavior.
· Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy. and effective communication while working at Easterseals or when representing the organization.
