Respite Caregiver – Flexible Part-Time Support for Individuals with Disabilities (Tierasanta)

Location: San Diego & Imperial Counties
Pay: $17.75/hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Flexible

What is Respite Care?

If you’ve never heard the term “respite care” before, that’s okay!

Respite care provides support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while giving their regular caregivers or family members a break. As a Respite Caregiver, you’ll spend one-on-one time with clients in their home or out in the community, helping them stay safe, active, and engaged.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others and wants flexible, meaningful part-time work.

What You’ll Do

No two days will look exactly the same. Depending on the individual you’re supporting, you may:

• Provide companionship, care, and supervision

• Go to the park, zoo, or other community activities

• Help with homework, crafts, games, or other activities

• Teach everyday life skills such as cooking and laundry

• Assist with personal care and daily living needs

• Attend appointments such as physical, occupational, or speech therapy

• Support communication and help manage challenging behaviors

• Help individuals become more independent while having fun and staying safe

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you are patient, dependable, caring, and comfortable working independently.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old

• At least 6 months of caregiving experience in a paid, volunteer, or personal setting. Caring for a family member counts!

• Must be able to pass a DOJ background check

• Reliable transportation

• Ability to use a smartphone or internet-enabled device for timekeeping and documentation

• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to become certified. Training is available for new hires.

• Dependable, compassionate, and comfortable supporting individuals with different needs
