Experience:
• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• Experience with Epic is required.

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >100 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Required Skills/Experience: Critical care experience required. First-time travelers may be accepted upon manager review with strong experience.
Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility. RTO of up to 7 days may be requested if the department can accommodate it; taking a full week off requires extending the contract; no RTO is allowed during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August). Approved time off does not waive the contracted weekly hours; travelers are expected to fulfill all contracted weekly hours. Travelers on extension contracts might be granted additional flexibility based on department needs.
Unit Details: Patient care includes highly progressive/acute respiratory care for adult critical care, pediatric critical care, neonatal critical care, and general inpatient respiratory care. Must be prepared to care for NICU patients if the requisition calls for that. This is a busy, fast-paced department. Uses Omnicell for medication dispensing. Equipment includes Draeger V500 and Savina 300 ventilators; 3100A and 3100B high-frequency oscillators; Bunnell High Frequency Jet; and Hamilton C1. Additional equipment includes ResMed APAP, CPAP, and bi-level devices; Airvo2 high-flow devices; Cough Assist; Incourage vest; ABL90 blood gas machines; IPV; and Vero iNO device.
Shift & Scheduling: Shift length may be 6 or 12 hours. Every other weekend rotation. Work on holidays that fall within contract dates. On-call requirements depend on the facility/job requisition. Generally, call is not required unless it is planned for events such as the Rally at Rapid City Hospital.
Floating Requirements: RT coverage is throughout the hospital and ED. The role will not float to other facilities unless the contract states otherwise.

Certifications:
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or the alternative certification CRT
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program – 8th Edition)
