St. Margaret's Center, an affiliate of the Center for Disability Services, is a 94-bed pediatric and young adult skilled nursing facility located in Albany, NY. Founded in 1883, we provide specialized long-term care for medically fragile infants, children, and young adults on a single dedicated campus.
Our team delivers advanced 24-hour medical care in a nurturing, home-like environment where residents can experience a full childhood - including school, activities, family time, and friendships.
Requirements for a Respiratory Therapist -
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate's degree in respiratory therapy required
Must have a broad knowledge of respiratory care standards, with experience working with tracheostomies (trachs) and individuals with MR/DD (intellectual and developmental disabilities)
What you'll do as a Respiratory Therapist -
Provide cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with physician orders, departmental policies, and established clinical standards
Assess, treat, and monitor pediatric and adolescent residents with cardiopulmonary conditions
Administer respiratory therapies, including tracheostomy care and airway management
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatments and patient responses
Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines
Smaller care units (average 16 residents per unit)
Higher staffing ratios for quality care
