Position Details

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Resource Room Teacher to join our Team!

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in special education or related field; Masters preferred
  • State of Michigan teacher certificate with one of the following endorsements: SA, SC, SE, SM
  • Experience working with students in a variety of learning disabilities
  • Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education (SPED) laws
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

NATURE OF THE POSITION:

The Resource Room Teacher is committed to providing individualized attention and support to students who need it the most. You will play a critical role in helping students overcome their challenges and achieve their goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to support student learning.
  • Collaborate with regular education teachers and other special education staff to ensure a seamless educational experience for students.
  • Assess student progress and modify instruction as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and other important information.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders to keep them informed of student progress and any concerns.
  • Provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and growth.
  • Additional duties as assigned

SKILLS:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff
  • Experience in behavior management and intervention strategies
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in special education
  • Advanced training in specific learning disabilities or disorders
  • Knowledge of assistive technology tools and resources
  • Ability to effectively differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
