We are seeking a Full-Time Resource Nurse to provide in-patient care to adolescent and adult patients who are undergoing psychiatric care.

Position Summary

The Resource Nurse provides clinical support and operational assistance throughout the facility to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role functions as a flexible nursing resource who assists with admissions, patient assessments, crisis intervention, staffing support, staff education, and clinical problem-solving across multiple units as needed. The Resource Nurse also supports nursing leadership through coaching, corrective action follow-up, and reinforcement of facility policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Provide ongoing staff education, real-time coaching, and support related to nursing practice, documentation, patient safety and workflow expectations.

· Assist with training of new employees and provide competency reinforcement as needed.

· Monitor staff performance and communicate concerns regarding policy violations, patient safety risks, professionalism, attendance, or clinical practice to nursing leadership.

· Mentor and support nursing staff, mental health technicians to promote a positive and therapeutic treatment environment

· Monitor unit operations and communicate concerns to leadership promptly.

· Provide direct patient care as needed throughout the facility.

· Assist nursing staff during high-acuity situations, emergencies, admissions, discharges, and transfers.

· Support unit staffing needs and help maintain appropriate patient care coverage.

· Perform nursing assessments, reassessments, and documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.

· Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.

· Respond to behavioral emergencies, medical emergencies, and crisis situations using de-escalation and therapeutic communication techniques.

· Assist with patient searches, safety precautions, and implementation of physician orders.

· Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, social workers, and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care needs.

· Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and quality assurance standards.

· Assist with patient placement and bed board management.

· Participate in shift reports, staffing huddles, and incident follow-up when applicable.

· Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards at all times.

· Complete all required training and competency requirements.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree required.

· Current unencumbered RN licensed by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

· Knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures.

· Current and timely renewal of BLS for healthcare providers required.

· Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; psychiatric, behavioral health, detox, emergency, or acute care experience.

· Prior experience in nursing leadership strongly preferred.

· Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.

· Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout shift.

· Ability to respond quickly during emergencies or behavioral crises.

· Ability to safely perform physical interventions when required by facility policy and training.

Compensation Type

· This is a full-time salaried position.

Work Environment

· Fast-paced behavioral health and/or medical environment.

· Exposure to potentially aggressive or unpredictable patient behaviors.

· May float between units and departments based on operational needs.

Schedule

· Monday – Friday 2PM-10PM. Hours may vary.

· May require weekends, holidays, overtime, and rotating shifts based on facility needs.

· Expected to maintain flexibility and adaptability in daily assignments.
