Basic Function:

To manage the operations of all student resource labs and creative activity facilities throughout the College of Communication and Information (CCI). Reports to Director, School of Visual Communication Design (VCD).

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Supervise the daily operations of the School of Visual Communication (VCD) Resource Room and and Creative Labs in Taylor Hall and the School of Media and Journalism (MDJ) Student Resource Lab and related facilities.

Perform daily and/or weekly preventive maintenance procedures of all equipment in resource lab spaces (VCD Resource Room, VCD Photo Lab, VCD Creative Lab, MDJ Student Resource Room, MDJ Photo Studio, Virtual Reality Co-Lab and related facilities; track warranties and send equipment out for repair when needed.

Collect data and maintain inventory for printer supplies, cameras, lenses, miscellaneous equipment, and studio light bulbs; order supplies when needed.

Maintain the inventory/equipment online reservation system; collaborate with faculty to ensure students enrolled in studio classes get priority access to studio spaces and equipment.

Develop and manage student check-out processes and procedures. Build efficiencies and collaborations within the multiple locations.

Work with the various college school directors and business managers to develop an annual operating and maintenance budget for each resource facility.

Hire, supervise, train and assign duties to student employees; oversee student employee activities in all resource labs and facilities. This includes VCD Resource Room, VCD Creative Lab, MDJ Student Resource Lab, photo studios, television studio and related facilities.

Collaborate and coordinate with school faculty to ensure purchased studio and creative lab equipment meets the needs of the students in their classes.

Work with school directors and faculty to provide support for courses offered in the VCD Creative Lab in Taylor Hall and all the MDJ courses which utilize the resource and studio facilities in Franklin Hall.

Plan and manage space and technology usage in the VCD Creative Lab that supports the vision of the school, including set-up, installation, disassemble and storage.

May supervise unclassified and/or classified staff.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor''s degree fine arts, design, visual communication design, photography, digital media or a related field. A minimum of four years of experience in operating camera equipment, specialized photography printers, lighting or other relevant experience.
