Summary:

The Resistance Weld Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and improving welding equipment to produce quality parts, ensuring safe and efficient machine operation by the department team.

Assists the Plant Manager by taking charge of an operating shift and performing responsibilities of the manager on that shift. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be able to set up, operate, and adjust all assembly equipment according to job requirements. Must be able to perform general maintenance and be responsible for product quality. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems as required. Ensure that training is properly completed. Report misuse or abuse of equipment, or finding that any poka-yoke has been bypassed. Support production and be willing to work overtime as required. Must portray good Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, Attendance Habits, and be able to perform in a team-oriented environment. Perform other tasks as required by the Plant Manager.

Must be able to perform general maintenance, assembly equipment programming, and understand weld principals, weld schedule programming, and be responsible for weld quality. Must maintain spare parts/consumables necessary for production, record machine downtime, and track machine efficiencies. Interact with Engineering during new job startups and strive for continuous improvement.

Mechanical/electrical set up and adjustments of equipment prior to production

Aid in the startup of new equipment

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair assembly equipment as needed

Instruct Weld Operators in the proper sequence of equipment

Insure all safety, failsafe/poka-yoke, and ergonomic features are functional

Update and keep accurate records of machine programs, production records, safety, and machine performance

Continuously improve equipment and processes to make it safe and efficient as possible

Support production

Perform tip changes and Weld Cell Changeovers

Understand and update Weld Run Schedule

Understand input and output and PLC communication

Other Duties:

Continuous Improvement

Continually works for improvement on non-conformance, scrap and variances to standard performance.

Management

Maintains training and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company procedures, policies and regulations.

Develops among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain department objectives.

With Plant Manager, conducts performance evaluation of each department employee and recommends performance increases, retraining, transfer or termination.

Responsible for shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, and back-up for absent employees.

Completes shift paperwork.

Participates in LPA's, PFMEA (as required), Production Meetings and others as they apply.

May participate in plant-wide safety/5S audits.

Performs any other directly related appropriate duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must be skilled with both hand and power tools.

Must possess demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude.

Previous manufacturing experience or related machine experience preferred: machine operator, general labor, or train with qualified TI Trainer for 60 days.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Use common sense to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Strong personal leadership and communication abilities.

In-company job experience as an above-average operator or fine mechanic.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises a team of Weld Operators and Weld Material Handler.
