Through individualized treatment plans, family engagement, and trauma-informed care, we help young people heal from abuse, neglect, and trauma while building the skills and resilience needed to thrive.About the RoleAs a Residential Youth Unit Coordinator, you will provide leadership and oversight for a residential treatment unit, ensuring youth receive safe, structured, and individualized care in a therapeutic environment. This role supervises staff, supports treatment implementation, and helps create a positive, trauma-informed milieu where youth can heal, learn, and grow.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on leadership, coaching and mentoring staff, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people. Successful candidates are adaptable, solutions-oriented, and committed to empowering youth through compassionate and consistent support.What You'll DoOversee daily unit operations, including staff supervision, treatment coordination, scheduling, and resource management.Ensure youth treatment plans are implemented consistently through trauma-informed, youth-centered practices and daily interactions.Provide coaching, mentorship, and supervision to direct care staff while promoting accountability, professional growth, and high-quality service delivery.Monitor unit safety, conduct rounds, support crisis intervention efforts, and ensure compliance with agency policies and treatment standards.Build collaborative relationships with youth, families, staff, and community partners while fostering an inclusive and affirming environment.Participate in hiring, staff evaluations, program planning, and quality improvement initiatives that enhance outcomes for youth.Who We're Looking ForRequiredMust be at least 25 years of age.Valid Illinois driver's license.High School Diploma or GED with five years of related experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.Minimum of one year of direct experience working with youth ages 8-18 who have experienced trauma, behavioral health challenges, or developmental disabilities.Knowledge of crisis intervention, behavior management, and de-escalation strategies.Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to take initiative, maintain a positive attitude, and support youth through an empowerment-focused approach.PreferredExperience in residential treatment, child welfare, behavioral health, or youth development settings.Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.Experience supporting LGBTQ+ youth and fostering affirming environments.Knowledge of trauma-informed care and therapeutic milieu practices.Position Requirements & Work EnvironmentWork Location: Child & Family Treatment Center (CFTC), 4833 N. Francisco Ave., Chicago, IL 60625.Schedule: Full-time onsite position. Typical second-shift schedule is 1:00 PM-9:00 PM or 3:00 PM-11:00 PM, five days per week, including weekends.Travel/Driving: Valid driver's license required; occasional transportation and program-related travel may be required.Physical Requirements: Ability to actively supervise youth, respond to crises, conduct unit rounds, and move throughout a residential treatment environment.Work Environment: Residential treatment setting serving youth with emotional, behavioral, and trauma-related challenges.Other Position Requirements: Flexibility required to maintain youth safety, staff coverage, and on-call availability as needed.Compensation and BenefitsWe care about the well-being of our employees and are proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that includes:Salary: $21.54-$24.00 per hour.
