Job Purpose:
- Our Turning Point Ranch is a level II therapeutic group home for girls ages 11-17 who exhibit distinct emotional and behavioral challenges that can best
be addressed in a group home setting. The Residential Specialist is responsible for providing advanced support and care to clients with behavioral health needs. This role involves implementing therapeutic strategies, monitoring client progress, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both clients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans for clients.
- Monitor and document client behavior, progress, and any changes in condition, reporting findings to the clinical team.
- Provide direct care and support to clients, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Facilitate therapeutic group sessions and activities, promoting client engagement and participation.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for clients and staff by adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care and services for clients.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and enhance skills relevant to the position.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support the implementation of new programs and initiatives aimed at improving client outcomes and service delivery.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a behavioral health setting.
- Experience in providing direct care to individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues.
- Familiarity with shift work, particularly in a healthcare or behavioral health environment.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Proficient in crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies.
- Excellent observational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
