Resident Services Assistant/ Med Aide

Qualifications:

1. Must be 18 years of age – if 16 or 17 waiver can be obtained with specific requirements
2. Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions
3. Must be able to perform all the requirements of the job description and have no lifting or bending restrictions that would affect the job requirements.
4. Previous experience in a health care facility is desired
5. Must possess good communication skills and a willingness to work with all team players
6. Must have an acceptable criminal background check

Status: The Resident Service Assistant is directly responsible to the Assisted Living Director/Director of Nursing.

Essential Job Functions: Provides non-professional routine nursing care and light housekeeping duties for the tenants of Pine Ridge/Cedar Ridge Assisted Living in accordance with the facility and state/federal guidelines.

Specific Job Duties:

1. Demonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assigned
2. Obtains pertinent information regarding residents and reports to appropriate personnel
3. Demonstrates ability to plan and prioritize actions before starting resident cares
4. Performs light housekeeping tasks such as changing linens
5. Provides assistance with laundry tasks as necessary
6. Performs procedures to meet individual resident needs for daily hygiene and appearance including, but not limited to, toileting, bathing, grooming, shaving, oral cares, and nail care
7. Demonstrates proper techniques of lifting, transferring, and ambulating residents; including the use of mechanical lifts.
8. Implements special care needs including incontinence cares, special skin care, catheter care, turning/positioning techniques, and use of adaptive equipment
9. Performs restorative care and range of motion as instructed
10. Assists with resident admissions, discharges, and room transfers as appropriate
11. Sorts and passes resident mail
12. Assists and encourages resident to take adequate diet, fluids, and supplements
13. Recognizes physical distress and acts to provide relief for those residents
14. Identifies and reports physical and psychological symptoms or spiritual needs to appropriate staff
15. Allows residents the freedom of choice in details of daily living whenever possible
16. Ensures residents rights are maintained at all times
17. Reports any observed physical or verbal abuse to the supervisor immediately
18. Encourages residents to participate in self care as appropriate
19. Assists residents with the application of prosthetics
20. Provides diversional activities as appropriate to meet resident needs
21. Demonstrates effective and respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
22. Demonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to, actions to assure resident and staff safety
23. Demonstrates proper infection control procedures and practices
24. Complies with rules and regulations of regulatory and surveying agencies
25. Complies with facility policies including but not limited to attendance policy and personal electronics policy
26. Maintains an active working relationship with nursing team and ancillary departments
27. Promotes the concept of customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships
28. Participates in giving and receiving report from the other shift
29. Attends scheduled training seminars, meetings, and in-services as appropriate
30. Follows work assignments and/or work schedules as assigned
31. Practices good personal hygiene and facility dress code
32. Assumes added duties as assigned by the  Director of Assisted Living or Director of Nursing
33. Performs and assists with activities per activity calendar/activity daily sheets

Pay: $19.00-$25.00, depending on years of experience. Shift Differential available on PM Shift ($3 per hour) and NOC ($5 per hour). Med Aide Differential $2 per hour.
