| Purpose of the Position: | The Residence Director (RD) is responsible for the programming and administrative management of a co-educational residential community ranging in size from 229 to 416 residents. This position has on-call responsibilities and answers to emergency situations.
Duties/Responsibilities Supervision & Student Development • Supervise Resident Assistant team to include the communication of expectations, administer accountability measures, and provide on-going professional development • Assist the Assistant Director of residence Life in the recruitment, selection, and training of student staff • Conduct meetings on an as needed basis with community student leaders to guide necessary professional, social, and personal development • Advise a community council • Review cases of student misconduct and determine fair consequences at the discretion of the Dean of Students office.
Administrative • Attend meetings as assigned to include weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly departmental meetings. • Participate (as directed) in occupancy management for an area of responsibility to include room assignment changes. • Manage an area programming budget, and execute the procurement of necessary materials. • Facilitate the work of a departmental committee as assigned. • Organize and communicate charges for residents for lockouts, damages, and related needs. • Monitor area key check-in and check-out processes through regular key audits. •Document relevant interactions with students through case management software. • Review daily communication logs and follow up with concerns as needed.
Community Enrichment • Plan, support, implement, and evaluate initiatives that contribute to the overall wellbeing of residents to include educational, social, and developmental growth. • Execute the department community development model through the support of active and passive programming opportunities. • Communicate relevant information to residents. • Refer students to campus resources as needed.
Operations/Facilities Management • Execute move-in procedures at the beginning of each semester and move-out procedures at the end of each semester. • Collaborate with maintenance and custodial staff to ensure appropriate upkeep of facility
Emergency/Crisis Response • Participate in a 24 hour on-call rotation with other Residence Directors •Respond to emergency/crisis situations in area of responsibility during normal business hours and after hours as needed. • Collaborate with dean of Students to implement wellness checks.
Department Representation • Represent Housing & Residence Life by actively participating in appropriate campus wide evets and committees. |
| Minimum Requirements: | • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience • 1-3 years of full-time verifiable experience working at an institution of higher education • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite • Experience with Google Suite is required • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Must possess a valid driver's license

| Desired Qualifications: | • Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration or a similar field is preferred •1-3 years experience in a traditional, on-campus, Housing and Residence Life department is desired • Experience with Adirondack Solutions Software is preferred • Knowledge of Banner is desired • Experience with Maxient is preferred |
