Performs advanced and largely independent research in a fast-paced laboratory investigating immune responses to Staphylococcus aureus using mouse models and human specimens. Responsibilities include designing, coordinating, and executing complex research protocols; managing and maintaining a large mouse colony; independently performing and supporting animal surgeries and experimental procedures; analyzing and interpreting research data; ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and animal care requirements; overseeing laboratory operations, purchasing, and inventory management; coordinating the collection and processing of human tissue samples with clinical partners; and providing technical expertise, training, and guidance to laboratory personnel, students, and trainees in support of the laboratory's research objectives.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks while working both independently and as part of a research team.
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and adapt to changing research priorities under the direction of the Principal Investigator or senior laboratory personnel.
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of laboratory databases, data entry systems, and common office software applications.

Preferred Experience:

Three or more years in a laboratory research setting and animal husbandry, particularly in immunology research with knowledge of infectious and/or neuroscience.
