Research Technician
Pay range: $20.00/hour- $25.00/hour, DOE
Hours: 8am-5pm, M-F
Location: Northborough, MA
Duration: Role could be 6 months to one year and has potential to turn to full-time regular role
Summary:
The Research Technician performs moderately complex laboratory activities with a high degree of autonomy, supporting the generation of reliable and timely analytical data for R&D and business stakeholders. The role works closely with engineers and customers to help solve technical problems by executing test requests, adapting methods to address non-routine needs, and ensuring the quality and consistency of results. In addition, the position contributes to the effective operation of the analytical laboratories through safe practices, proper use and maintenance of equipment, accurate data analysis and reporting, and the continuous improvement and development of procedures to meet evolving technical requirements.
Duties:- Perform analytical testing activities using a range of established methods to characterize materials and products, working closely with analytical scientists and internal customers to address technical questions and support R&D and business needs.
- Conduct experiments assigned, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) or specific instructions, while contributing to the development of new methods, the improvement of existing techniques, and the creation or update of SOPs in collaboration with project leaders.
- Collect, document, and analyze test data using appropriate tools and methods, ensuring data integrity and compliance with group policies, and communicate results clearly to stakeholders through standard reporting formats.
- Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure reliable operation, including set-up, calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance; coordinate with external service providers as needed and contribute to resolving equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Safely performs specialized R&D assignments, involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating, and/or solving problems concerning our processes, equipment, and products.
Qualifications:- 1 - 5 years of experience in technician, testing or quality environment.
- Capability to use computer and Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and Word, is a must.
- Hands on experience in general laboratory tasks including proper chemical handling
