JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Technician 2 assists in the application of advanced biochemical technologies to support research on the cerebrovascular mechanisms of vulnerability to psychoactive substances during early development.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills .
- Attention to detail for record keeping.
- Ability adherence to sterile protocols during experimental procedures.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
- Participates in development of biochemical procedures aimed at elucidation of biochemical mechanisms that drive pathology of fetal cerebrovascular system under the direction of the PI.
- Performs brain dissections and tissue collection (cerebral arteries) to support proteomics, oxygen consumption, and vascular leakage studies.
- Manages the record-keeping and documentation for daily lab activities, including lab notes reflecting progress with experimental activities.
- Ensure the integrity of experimental data through meticulous adherence to protocols and detailed documentation.
- Performs data analysis and applies statistical methods to evaluate results, under the direction of the PI.
- Prepare procedure area and sterilize instruments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
